When I am taking images for my portfolio I love photographing vintage stuff and ghost towns. Is it just me or is there something special about vintage cars or vintage anything? I can look at an old car and it makes me think of what it must have been like when these things were new. Just think of how you feel when you open a new gadget and how you feel so great about it for 5 minutes before something else enters your thoughts. When a vintage car or gadget was made there was not nearly as many things to snap your attention away from that great item. I bet people kept that feeling much longer back then because they weren’t buying so many things so often. I think we consider that new item based upon how much we spend on them now, and for some even a new car doesn’t occupy there thought for more than a few minutes, because they are always looking for the next best thing.

I think that is why I am so fascinated with vintage things, I think about how much harder it must have been to manufacture without all the modern conveniences of today’s big corporations, with all the industrial equipment. Many vintage things were hand made by real people, and these things had some imperfections that made them unique. Don’t get me wrong I want the next cool thing like everyone else, but I admire the things from our past and value the opportunity to capture them in a photograph whenever possible.
