There are so many way to use flashlight photography. This was my first try, and my experience is that you can use a flashlight to create so many different results.
This shot of my 2006 VW GTI is a composite of 2 images. The background image was taken about 5 years ago with my Nikon D100 and the Car was shot with a Canon 5D MkII. The best part about this image is that the car was illuminated was a flashlight for approximately 5 min in complete darkness. I had to keep my light from exposing the interior or it would have ruined the feel of the image. To find the edges of the car I had to back-light the car with the flashlight around the edges of the body so I knew where to crop the car. Other than the overlay, very little was done to the image. The color and detail were captured in camera.
Note: In the September 2010 issue of Rangefinder I saw the work of Eric Curry, his use of this type of photography is by far my favorite.
